Asynchronous Lessons: Anna's thoughts and tips video

Asynchronous lessons are a wonderful way to use your lesson time when coming into the studio or having an online lesson just won't work. At our May 2023 recital, Anna generously shared her thoughts and some tips about asynchronous lessons. Click on the video link to hear Anna's ideas.

Every week, as part of our practice plan, each student should be making some videos of their practicing for their own review to get another perspective on if things are going as they expect them to (our brains love to tell us “it was all good,” when in reality we still have work to do). Generally, we just delete these after we’ve watched them, but I always recommend keeping some of the beginning-of-the-practice-week videos just in case sickness, etc., sneaks in. When it’s our lesson day (or when you know you’ll not be able to make it), just upload the video(s) to our shared Google Drive folder and I’ll use your reserved lesson time to review the video and record suggestions and instructions for practicing for the upcoming week. We still have our lesson, and use our reserved time, but it’s “asynchronous."
